Love in Action Fort Lauderdale is Christ Church's ministry that provides meals and fellowship for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or financial disability.
Each Thursday afternoon from 2:15-5:15pm, a team of approximately 14 volunteers gathers in the Christ Church Fort Lauderdale kitchen to prepare up to 250 individual hot meals—meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, cookies, coffee and juice, and sandwiches.
The prepared meals are delivered to an off-site location, Vision of Hope Family & Worship Center, 1100 N Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale (map). There, from approximately 5:15-7:30pm, another team of volunteers helps to set up, serve and clean up after the meal.
Guests are invited to relax as they are served the home-cooked meals and given sandwiches for the next day. Servants share God's love through their actions and words as they serve, talk and listen. Prayer requests are collected from the guests and can be viewed at loveinactionfeeding.blogspot.com. Your prayers are appreciated.
This is a great opportunity for families to serve together. Participating high school students are eligible to earn community service hours. As needs are discovered, the ministry coordinates with agencies in Broward County to provide opportunities for shelter, bus passes, clothing and other services.
