The Blessings Food Pantry provides food for families and individuals in need. Volunteers serve for an additional 30 minutes after closing time to make sure everything is in order for the next day. Opportunities to serve at the pantry include assist with record-keeping; help distribute food; and workroom persons for a variety of activities including organizing and stocking the pantry shelves, etc. Training is provided. Sign up below, if you are interested in volunteering or would like to receive more information about volunteering.



Food Pantry needs

Food donations may be made any time at the pantry during open hours and at the Fort Lauderdale church office Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm.

  • Canned tuna or chicken*
  • Canned* or boxed soups
  • Cereals
  • Instant potatoes
  • Tomato sauce
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Mac n Cheese
  • Canned beans*
  • Canned vegetables*
  • Jelly
  • Peanut Butter
  • Coffee/tea
  • Canned fruits*
  • Canned ravioli*
  • Canned meats (ie:Spam)*
  • Cereal Bars
  • Baby Formula
  • Baby food & Cereal 


*Preferably with pull-tab tops when possible.

Miscellaneous

  • Bibles - soft or hard covers
  • Ziploc bags (sandwich & quart size)
  • Diapers - all sizes
  • Deodorant, combs, wash cloths
  • Used reading glasses
  • Disposable razors
  • Plastic shopping bags
  • Wrapped plastic eating utensils (such as those from take-out meals)



Please make sure any donated items are nonperishable and have not expired.


Volunteer

The Blessings Food Pantry is open 9-11:30am Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If you are willing to help by keeping records, packing bags of groceries, stocking shelves or handing out bags of food, we'd love to hear from you.

Other ways to help:

  • Organize food drives at workplaces and organizations to help stock the pantry
  • Drivers with an SUV, van or pick-up truck, and available on short notice are frequently needed. If you have a flexible schedule that would allow you to pick up donated food from grocery stores and retailers, and deliver it to the pantry on the same day, please click here to contact Pery Canan.
  • Monetary donations to the pantry make it possible to purchase food in bulk and stretch the pantry’s buying power. Checks for the pantry may be made payable to Christ Church, and should include “Blessings Food Pantry” on the memo line. Checks may be mailed to Christ Church, 4845 NE 25th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308.
