The Gracious Energetic Motivated Servers (GEMS), is one of Christ Church's most active adult groups. They gather monthly, generally the first Wednesday morning of the month, October through May, and offer opportunities for service, fellowship and education. The GEMS collect boxtops for education, unused toiletry items, and disposable paper products; donate filled backpacks to children in need, as well as hoodies and blankets for the homeless; prepare life skill binders; and volunteer as reading friends to students.
Whether you are new to the Christ Church community or have attended for years, this is a great way to make friends. For more information, please click here to contact Barbara Timmerman, or join a GEMS event. All are welcome.
Globetrotters is a group of Christian friends and guests with an interest in learning about different places in our city, state, country and world. The group meets monthly, usually on the first Friday or the month, November through May. Attendees enjoy lunch in the Fellowship Halls and speakers who provide video programs about interesting places and covering a wide range of topics. Day trips and longer trips are offered throughout the year, with pick-up points for all tours at Christ Church and John Knox Village.
Annual dues are $70 per person, payable in November, at the first meeting of the season. The annual dues cover meeting and meal expenses. Membership is all inclusive and non-transferable. Meals for visitors are available at $13 and must be reserved by the Tuesday before the Friday meeting. For meal reservations, please click here to contact Val Proffer, or call the church office at 954.771.7300.
The Greenhouse Young Adults
The Greenhouse is a group for college-age adults and beyond who want to grow their faith and do life together. The group's cornerstone activity is Sunday night Bible study at the green house on the Pompano Beach campus. At 7pm most Sunday nights, you can pour yourself a cup of coffee, join a discussion of the evening's study and then pray for one another. No wonder the group's motto is Grow with Us. The group also plans recreational and service activities. Check out their Facebook Group page to learn what's next.
The Women's Ministry aims to reach women where they are and help them grow in faith, connect with others spiritually and serve their community as the hands and feet of Christ. Special activities are offered at various times throughout the year. For more information, please call the church office at 954.771.7300.
The Men's Ministry offers special activities at various times throughout the year, and encourages men to participate in small groups, at community-sponsored events, and at church events and ministries. To learn about upcoming events, call the church office at 954.771.7300.
Walk to Emmaus
The Christ Church Emmaus community is made up of members who have completed the three-day discipleship experience called the Walk to Emmaus. The Walk to Emmaus, led by lay and clergy volunteers, is organized by Oceanside Emmaus. Click here to go to their website for details and regional activities. If you have questions about Emmaus or need a sponsor so you can attend a Walk, click here to contact Susan Spragg, Emmaus coordinator for Christ Church. The name Walk to Emmaus comes from Luke 24, when the risen Christ joined two people on the road to Emmaus, discussing with them the Scriptures and the life of faith. The Walk to Emmaus is an international ministry sponsored by The Upper Room.
