SOUTH EAST Reconciling GROUP

Praying for Pastor Kipp Nelson of St. John's On the Bay United Methodist before 2023 Florida Annual Conference, where he became a provisional elder.

DISTRICTWIDE RECONCILING GROUP FORMED

United Methodists from the South East District of the Florida Annual Conference came together on Saturday, May 20, to discuss the reconciling movement and why it is important for individuals to support the reconciling movement within the denomination.

In a vote completed on July 31, those in attendance agreed to adopt the Reconciling Ministries Network foundational statement:

We celebrate God’s gift of diversity and value the wholeness made possible in community equally shared and shepherded by all. We welcome and affirm people of every gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, who are also of every age, race, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, level of education, and family structure, and of every economic, immigration, marital, and social status, and so much more. We acknowledge that we live in a world of profound social, economic, and political inequities. As followers of Jesus, we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed.

In addition, we celebrate Pastor Kipp Nelson being approved as a Provisional Elder within the Florida Conference during annual conference in June. The now Rev. Nelson is pastor at St. John's on the Bay UMC in Miami Beach. He is also the spiritual leader of the South East District Reconciling Group.
