Camp counselors are not permitted to release a child to you. If you know ahead of time that you will need an early pick up (doctor’s appointment, etc.), please give us a note at drop off in the morning. We will bring your camper to the church office for you to pick up at the requested time.

What to bring and wear to camp everyday:

Campers should wear shorts, t-shirts, sneakers, and sunscreen. (Crocs, flip flops, open-toe shoes, and shoes with no back are not permitted at camp). PK3-PK4, pack a full change of clothes labeled in a Ziploc bag for possible accidents.

Each camper will receive one camp t-shirt. Campers do not have to wear the camp shirt. Additional shirts may be purchased for $10 each, if available.  Please do not wear anything that cannot get dirty or get paint on it. We plan on having lots of fun!

Please send campers with a healthy lunch, snack, and water bottle Monday-Friday. Please send all lunchboxes and water bottles clearly labeled. We will have water refill stations in each cabin to refill bottles throughout the day. If your child is going to Aftercare, please pack an extra snack.

Campers may want to bring a light sweatshirt as it is usually cold inside the church building. Money, toys, books, hand-held games, sporting equipment, stuffed animals, and any kind of trading cards should be left at home. Campers may not use or bring cell phones to camp. Christ Church is not responsible for any lost, missing, or broken items. There will be a lost and found located in the breezeway each day. Safety Plan

Safety is very important to us at Christ Church Summer Camp. All camp activities will take place within a gated, secured area or under supervision of counselors on church property.

Emergency Plan

Floods, rainstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, and other emergencies that could affect the operation of the camp constitute reasons to close the camp. Evacuation and lock down procedures have been put in place for the safety of the campers and staff. Directors will notify parents by email of any camp closures that may occur. Please be sure we have your correct email address on your registration packet.

Camp Closure
The camp’s duties and obligations shall be suspended immediately without notice during all periods that the camp is closed because of superior force events including, but not limited to, any fire, act of God, hurricane, war, governmental action, act of terrorism, epidemic, pandemic or any other event beyond the camp’s control. If such an event occurs, the camp’s duties and obligations will be postponed until such time as Christ Church, in its sole discretion, may safely reopen. If the camp cannot reopen due to an event under this clause, Christ Church is under no obligation to refund any portion of the tuition paid.

Food Allergies
Christ Church Camp is NOT a “no peanuts/no tree nuts” camp. That means that campers, staff, and anyone else entering Christ Church Summer Camp can bring peanuts or tree nuts (almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazel nuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachio, walnuts, etc.). We provide a “no nut” table for campers with an allergy to nuts to sit at for lunch. On occasion, camp staff may provide a snack or a food-based lesson/activity. If your child has any food allergies, the camp will notify the parent ahead of the activity.  An allergy form at the bottom of this Welcome Packet is to be filled out for each camper to give the camp more specific information about your child’s allergies. All counselors will be informed of any child’s allergies.

Christ Church Summer Camp Sickness Policy and Health Procedures

Christ Church Summer Camp has always adhered to an extensive sickness policy. All camp families must sign this policy to attend camp and adhere firmly to these procedures. All people who use the Christ Church facility for church and after camp meetings and programs will be urged to stay home if they are not well. Christ Church Summer Camp will work closely with local and state public health departments to maintain effective protocols for the identification and appropriate treatment of any illnesses that may occur at the camp and church including COVID-19.

If you have questions regarding COVID-19, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website for more information on how you can best protect yourself and your family.

CHRIST CHURCH SUMMER CAMP HEALTH REGULATIONS

Keep your child home if he/she seems listless, unusually irritable, complains of a stomachache, headache, or earache, or seems to be pale or flushed. It is better to be overcautious than to risk exposing the rest of the children and staff to contagion. If your child becomes ill with a communicable disease, contact your doctor to determine proper care and then notify the camp office.

The following conditions must be reported to the camp office. A note from a doctor is not required before returning to camp.

Colds: A good rule of thumb is to keep a child home at the beginning of a cold… the most infectious time and when they feel the worst. Please keep your child at home if they are experiencing discomfort that would interfere with their ability to perform in camp (i.e., uncontrollable coughing, severe runny nose, severe lack of energy) or if the symptoms would negatively affect the classroom environment, other campers and the counselors. If your child experiences green nasal discharge that continues throughout the day, or a cough lasting longer than 10 days, or is accompanied by fever or chills and is productive of discolored sputum, consult with your doctor. The child may return to camp when the child does not have a persistent cough and feels well.

Conjunctivitis (pinkeye): Following a diagnosis of bacterial conjunctivitis, the child may return to camp 24 hours after antibiotic treatment is started. Campers with viral infection may return when eyes are clear.

Cough or congestion: The child should remain home if the cough or congestion interferes with breathing and/or if wheezing.

Diarrhea: A child with diarrhea must stay at home and return to camp only after being symptom-free for 24 hours.

Fever: The child should remain at home with a fever greater than 100.4°. The child can return to camp after they has been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin.

Rashes: Skin irritations are difficult because they can be a harmless allergic reaction or a sign of a serious illness. A rash with no accompanying fever, symptoms or change in behavior probably is not cause for concern. However, if the child seems sick or the rash comes on suddenly, a trip to the doctor is wise.

Vomiting: If your child has vomited during the night, the child should not be sent to camp. A child may not return to camp until he or she has not vomited for a full 24 hours.

The camp office must be notified if your child has been diagnosed with one of the following diseases. A doctor’s note stating that the child is non-communicable is required before returning to camp.

Chicken Pox                   Impetigo                           Mumps                                         RSV

COVID-19                         Coxsackievirus                 Influenza A or B                         Norovirus

Rubella                            Croup                                 Kawasaki Disease                      Pertussis

Scabies                            Fifth Disease                    Measles                                         Pinworms

Scarlet Fever                  Head Lice                          Meningococcal Meningitis     Pneumonia

Shingles                          Hepatitis A or B               Molluscum Contagiosum        Ringworm

Staph Infection             Herpangina                      Mononucleosis                           Rotavirus

Strep Throat

Chicken Pox: The child should stay home until there are no new spots and all old ones are scabbed over. Usually this requires the camper to stay home seven to ten days.

Coxsackievirus (hand, foot, and mouth disease): The child must stay home during the acute phase/stage of illness while fever or lesions exist. Lesions or rash must be completely scabbed over and dry before returning to camp.

Head Lice: The child may return to camp only after treatment and when hair is free of nits. A letter from a professional head lice removal company must be provided or the child’s head must be checked by staff prior to admittance to camp.

Measles, mumps, rubella, and pertussis: These illnesses are highly communicable. Please report any confirmed cases to the camp office.

Molluscum Contagiosum: If the papules are red and inflamed, they must be completely covered for entry into camp.

Strep Throat: A child may return to camp 24 hours after antibiotic is started, he/she feels well enough, temperature is normal and a note from the doctor states that the child is non-communicable.

Your child will be sent home immediately if they return to camp before the required time period or without a doctor’s note.

This policy helps protect all Christ Church Campers, faculty, and staff from sickness before it spreads and enables us to maintain a healthy, happy community. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Please note that staff is not permitted to administer medication to campers and that campers may not bring medication to camp.

PANDEMIC SAFETY POLICIES

Christ Church Summer Camp has instituted additional policies and procedures to seek to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our community.  These policies supersede the above procedures regarding safe return to camp.

The additional policies may be amended at any time at the discretion of the camp based upon new information, guidance from healthcare professionals or to abide by local, state, and federal mandates. The policies and procedures set forth are based upon the most recent CDC and local health department guidelines.

If during the camp day, a camper displays any of the following symptoms, the camper will be isolated from the camp community and monitored by a trained staff member until the caregiver is able to pick the child up. While we understand that many of these symptoms can also be related to other health issues, we must proceed with an abundance of caution.

At this time, Christ Church Summer Camp along with all church ministries adhere to a mask optional policy. If at any time a situation arises when the church needs to change this policy to comply with CDC guidelines, Christ Church reserves the right to change the mask or other health policies of the camp.
